GoJo for RAA

Please, help me raise some funds for refugees in Miami. 

Refugee Assistance Alliance supports refugees who have been invited by the US government to resettle in this country after forced displacement from their homelands. Nearly all the people we work with have been through a traumatic journey to arrive here, with nothing, to start their lives over again. Most can't speak English - which makes it tough for them to gain work and leaves them isolated and incredibly lonely. 

I'm so lucky to work for an organization that helps these people figure out how to feel at home here. RAA helps refugees learn English, find work, study or gain work certifications, and learn practical life skills that we all take for granted. Refugees are some of the bravest, most resilient people I know, and with a little support and friendship they can make a go of their new lives. Last weekend a refugee said to me "I'm not lazy Jo. I will work so hard and I will make something of my life - and then I will help others who struggle, as you do." 

I share her view of the American dream.
