City Year Miami Challenge: Karen Velazquez-Vargas

I have the privilege and honor of leading a group of dedicated individuals that truly understands the value of "Belief in the Power of Young People." Everyday, we get to witness young people giving back to help scholars reach their academic goals, trust in their abilities, and imagine a brighter tomorrow. 

City Year Miami strives to support the students in our communities with the resources and tools to help them succeed both academically and personally. Our Student Success Coaches serve where most needed and inspire our scholars to be their best selves. Through their efforts struggling students build more confidence, improve their reading and math skills, and further their leadership skills. 

We move forward as a community with the knowledge that together we can create a more hopeful, promising, and equitable future for all. 

I serve because all children deserve to realize their potential and reach their dreams, and that begins with access to a quality education.
