Dear Friends and Family,

Refugee Assistance Alliance, a grassroots non-profit, works with clients from around the world- Syria, Venezuela, Afghanistan, Honduras, Palestine, Guatemala, Myanmar, Haiti, Guyana, Pakistan, Eritrea, Iraq and the Ukraine. They are amazing, resilient people, who are just like you and me, except that they were forced to flee their homes because of war, political, religious or gender persecution, and violence. All they want is a fresh start in a safe country. And thankfully, the United States government invited them to rebuild their lives here. We hope the U.S. government will keep allowing them in, and that we can keep affording to assist them. I believe that the U.S. is better because of immigrants and refugees, that all humans deserve safety and a chance to succeed, and that it is an honor to help those less fortunate than ourselves.

I have been working for Refugee Assistance Alliance since it was almost brand new. I helped build the organization with the Founder, and I remember when we only had 5 families and $0 in the bank (and worked for free). We've now helped over 500 clients, have an amazing staff (which includes former refugees who came through our program) and a budget and bills quite a bit larger :)  We offer English classes, employment assistance, community navigation, socio-emotional care, tutoring for kids, and community events where our families can meet each other and find others who understand their world.

Give Miami Day is a city-wide non-profit fundraising day that helps us raise over a large portion of the money we need to pay our staff and help our clients every year. I would be honored if you would consider making a donation of any size through this page in order to help us keep our doors open and assist as many refugee families as possible. Now, more than ever, it's important to show the world that refugees matter and deserve to be welcomed into the United States. I love my job, I believe in the work we do, and I know where every dollar goes. And I promise, your money will go to our programing costs and to direct services for refugee moms, dads and kids.

Most importantly, some of my friends and colleagues are also trying to help raise money for RAA through a page like this, and I'd like to crush them all.

Thanks for caring about refugees and for helping me reign supreme in fundraising crushery.

Love,

Jamie
