Support RAA on Give Miami Day!

Dear friends, you probably know that I helped found RAA in 2017. Many of you have supported us along the way, and you have helped us build a successful, resilient organization that centers its efforts around our clients’ needs.  In my final months on the Board of Trustees, I would like to ask for your support one last time. Refugees come to the US legally and on a path to US citizenship, but receive only 90 days of support. RAA steps in on day 91, offering assistance and support to the most vulnerable— those with no community to settle into or facing the greatest challenges. We assemble and train amazing volunteer teams that spend a year (or more!) working closely with these families.  We show them how to navigate their new country, teach them English, help with practical issues like work and school, and most importantly, offer friendship and connection. Six years later and with hundreds of clients served, we can say that we are making a tangible difference in our clients’ lives and in our community.  Our clients have graduated from high school and college, attended professional training, settled into stable lives, and are now US citizens!  Through it all, we continue to meet for coffee and celebrate at community events— as it turns out, the connections we make are not simply for a year, but for life.
