Free Plastic reduces the environmental impact of plastic pollution through education, community engagement, and the development of new plastic recycling techniques.
Your support will help us create new products from ocean plastic; educate our community about the realities of plastic recycling and single-use plastics; continue our monthly cleanups that service public spaces throughout South Florida; and to continue building out a network of artists, builders, and makers to continuously develop innovative ways to collect plastic pollution from our local environment and transform it into new reusable, recyclable, and long-lasting products.
Since our founding in 2019, we have successfully recycled ocean and post-consumer plastics into numerous products, including: coffee tables, lazy susans, trophies, tiles, wall art, jewelry, stools, public art, coasters, keychains, stools, and more. In partnership with local organizations, our lectures & workshops educate our Miami communities on the realities of plastic use and plastic recycling throughout South Florida, and we also lead monthly community & beach cleanups throughout Miami-Dade County.
Through our Plastic Poetry program, in partnership with O, Miami and Miami-Dade County Department of Cultural Affairs, we have installed 22 poems throughout Miami-Dade County. With over 2,700 particpants, we have collected over 10,000 pounds of pollution, reclaimed nearly 500 pounds of plastic from our local environment, and recycled over 95 pounds of plastic pollution into public art.
Learn more at www.FreePlastic.org, and as always, thank you for your support.
Our mission is to reduce the environmental impact of plastic pollution through education, community engagement, and direct action, including environmental cleanups, active recycling programs, public art installations, creative collaborations, and the development of new collecting, sorting, and recycling techniques.
