Barry University

For more than 80 years, Barry University has been transforming lives for a greater tomorrow. We are committed to providing an educational experience that fosters individual and communal transformation. We believe that learning leads to knowledge and truth, reflection leads to informed action, and a commitment to social justice leads to collaborative service.  

Today, we educate more than 6,400 students on our campuses, and we are the proud alma mater of over 17,500 Miami-Dade alumni, including the former Mayor of Miami-Dade County, Carlos Gimenez ’99, and our Superintendent for Miami-Dade County Public Schools, Jose Dotres ’88. Not only are Barry alumni helping our cities and counties run smoothly, but they are also serving our community in our hospitals, schools, and businesses throughout Miami-Dade.

Since our founding in 1940, the University has held fast to the ideal that access to education should not be limited to only those who can afford it. All students have unlimited potential, but many have limited financial means. One hundred percent of incoming full-time freshmen receive financial assistance from the University, including grants and scholarships, and many students are the first in their families to attend college.
