For over 30 years, YES Institute has served individuals, families, and communities across South Florida through open, action-oriented dialogues and prevention education on gender and orientation. Founded in 1996, our mission is to prevent suicide and ensure the healthy development of all youth through powerful communication and education. We are continuing education providers for licensed mental health and medical professionals. Our unique approach moves people beyond debate so they can work together, creating environments where all youth feel seen, supported, and valued.

South Florida high school students who are stigmatized or rejected due to their sexual orientation or gender identity, are at high risk of self-harm:
• 6% of heterosexual youth make a suicide attempt;
• 24% of gay, lesbian, and bisexual youth make a suicide attempt;
• 31% of transgender youth make a suicide attempt.

Our impact continues to grow through partnerships with organizations across North and South America. We work closely with local leaders to develop action plans that address the unique needs of each community, creating both immediate and lasting change. Our programs are open and accessible to all youth and families, including Spanish-speaking families, Black and Latinx youth, and individuals living with HIV.
