The mission of AFMA is to introduce musical and theatrical arts to children, youth and families who typically do not have access to the arts due to demographics, location and those residing in inner-city neighborhoods that bear a disproportionate share of the ecology of economic disadvantage.
AFMA programming is an empowering and hands-on experience offering children and youth the chance to develop musical and performing arts skills that can lead to a more productive middle and senior high school experience. All classes and workshops are designed to augment the skills and knowledge needed to present live performances by aspiring artists and musicians, as well as hone the skills needed to secure musical and arts scholarships at the postsecondary level.
The ethnic composition of CMG in comparison to Aventura and CMG is: population of 73.7% compared to Aventura’s 90.4% and CMG’s 18.3%; compared to Aventura’s 3.9% and CMG’s 76.3%; Latino population of Aventura’s 35.8% and CMG’s 22%. Racial and ethnic compositions reflect a need for more diverse cultural interactions to build and grow the community. Music has been proven to be a primary tool in aiding community bonding under the musical and theatrical arts umbrella.
