As a proud Board Member, collaborator, dancer, and creative spirit, I truly believe in PWC's mission of democratizing performance for all bodies. Their performances are living, breathing works that are meant to disrupt norms and challenge conventions.

This year, it's been my honor to produce and perform my 2024 PWC Creative Connections project "MissEnfranchised", as well as to co-facilitate Recovery in Motion, a series for folks on their 12-step recovery journey who want to supplement their program with movement and theater.

One of the most beautiful moments in the workshop was when a participant brought an idea to us, and our collective synergy brought emotional and spiritual breakthroughs to the sacred studio space!

At PWC the creative process is dynamic and iterative, emphasizing the contributions of each artist involved and WE NEED YOUR SUPPORT to continue this incredible work.

Giving to Pioneer Winter Collective means championing a bold and unapologetic artistic vision. Through art-making, inclusive collaboration, and centering bodies of all artistic practices, we create space for dialogue and change, working toward a future that is inclusive, daring, and just.

Pioneer Winter Collective's major objective is to democratize performance. This involves being highly intentional about who we make work with, what our process looks like, who our audiences are, and how we engage with them. We do not separate art making from community making, and all activities are braided in support of this mission by bringing real bodies and lived experience to the forefront. The work we create expands the definition of all that dance is and can be, so all bodies survive, thrive, and are witnessed. The effects of constant erasure based on race, body type, age, gender, and ability are evident - and this goes for both the artists as well as the audience.

As an organization rooted in social practice and community, Pioneer Winter Collective strives to create performances that challenge norms, embrace diversity, and promote social justice and equity. Our intergenerational and physically integrated approach to dance-theater allows us to create innovative and thought-provoking performances in a variety of spaces, from public venues and museums to schools and film.

With support from Give Day Miami, we will be better positioned to respond and demonstrate the ways diversity, equity, and inclusion have changed dance ecologies that exist between traditional production, touring, and research spaces.
