Our work could not be more important than it is right now this year and in this state. Anti-trans and anti-lgbtq legislation has passed this recent term sending the message to our queer youth that they’re not valid, they don’t matter, and that gender-affirming care isn’t a life-saving right. At the Alliance, we provide free mental health care and leadership to our queer youth to either tell them for the first time or remind them that they are loved, seen, heard, and are special.
As a clinician, I know that providing mental health care to queer youth is statistically a life-saving job. As a queer non-binary person, I could have benefitted from the services that the Alliance provides at a young age, and don’t want any queer youth to feel the way I felt – ashamed, like I was wrong, and that I had to hide. Instead, I strive to create a space where our queer young people can heal, grow, and become the leaders they were born to be. Please consider donating anything you can knowing that it will go directly to the work of individual counseling, care coordination, group counseling, and our ChangeMakers Leadership Institute.
