Hi, I’m Mike Davey, and you might know me as a former mayor. But I’m writing to you today to support something I care deeply about: good local journalism.

As a former elected official, I know sound local government needs strong local journalism to ask the tough questions and keep the public informed.

Democracy needs news. And news needs you.

That’s why on Give Miami Day, I’m supporting nonprofit Miami Fourth Estate and asking you to do the same.

Miami-Dade County is made up of 34 different and distinct municipalities. But, when it comes to hyper local news, most of these places don't get regular, in-depth coverage.

That’s what your donation will do — help expand local news coverage you see in the Key Biscayne Independent to other towns in Miami, help hire reporters who will work alongside concerned residents to create nonpartisan, fact-driven solid news reporting in every town.

Thank you for generosity — and support of democracy that good journalism relies on

Mike
