Ketáb is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to bridging educational disparities and empowering underserved high school students in Miami-Dade County. Every student has a right to higher education, economic mobility, and a quality life. This is why we help students get into college, reach their dreams, and transform their life trajectories through higher education.
Our focus is on empowering low-income, Title 1 high school students from marginalized communities who face systemic barriers to higher education. We predominantly serve Black or Hispanic students in Miami, most of which qualify for free or reduced lunch, and students who have recently migrated to Miami. To date, many of our students have been successful in acquiring scholarships and college acceptances, with 20 students attending state universities and three students at Ivy League Universities.
Our mission is carried out through a range of services that include workshops for personal statements, essay revisions, resume and cover letter support, SAT/ACT prep, and assistance with the Common Application. Our programs operate virtually and in person through Miami-Dade County Public Schools and Libraries.
Funding from Give Miami Day will allow us to expand Ketáb’s impact in the following ways:
Marketing - We will expand our visibility to reach more students throughout Miami-Dade through advertisements.
Grant Writing - We will pay a professional grant writer to help us secure additional funding.
Library Program - We will hire a program coordinator to ensure the consistency and continuity of our library programs at participating Miami Dade Public Libraries.
Join us in empowering Miami’s next generations of leaders, one student at a time.
