I have had the honor of working with Yulia, Samantha, and the rest of the Impact Edition team for the past 4 years. I have watched how hard they work to tell the stories of changemakers of all types in Miami with such a beautiful product. Magazines like Impact Edition are really a labor of love and need support from the community to continue. I am incredibly proud to serve on their board as we plan out the organization's future. Here are a few highlights from Impact Edition's 2024 so far.

Impact by the Numbers:

  • 3,500+ print magazines distributed freely in the community
  • 2.5+ million impressions through public exhibitions
  • 80+ community leaders engaged through panel discussions
  • Multiple prestigious recognitions (LION, Catalyst 2030, Karel Scholarship)
  • Presence at 80+ public locations through bus stop exhibitions
  • 3 major conference presentations

2024 Achievements:

  • Selected as a member of LION (Local Independent Online News Publishers), joining a prestigious network of independent news organizations across the U.S. and Canada
  • Released our third print collection spotlighting Miami's changemakers (1,500 copies distributed free)
  • Hosted "Documenting Community Wealth" panel at Books & Books, featuring renowned speakers like Carl-Philippe Juste (Miami Herald), Dr. Marvin Dunn (Miami Center for Racial Justice), and other community leaders, drawing 80 registrations
  • Featured at major conferences, including:
    • Aspen: Climate Ideas conference (Miami Beach, March 2024)
    • IGNITE! 2024 by Philanthropy Miami, where our founder, Yulia Strokova, spoke on "Small Budget – Big Impact."
  • Launched a reprise of our storytelling exhibition at the Center for Social Change

2023 Notable Achievements:

  • "Who Is Miami" Storytelling Exhibition reached over 2.5 million impressions through:
    • Month-long display at Brightline
    • Presence at 80 bus stops across Miami
    • Additional exhibitions at Books & Books and FIU's Green Library
  • Launched the 'Walk the Talk' series, connecting changemakers for greater community impact
  • Selected to join Catalyst 2030, a global movement addressing pressing world problems
  • Received the Karel Scholarship to showcase our storytelling at ComNet 23
  • Distributed 2,000 copies of our second print issue through high-traffic partner venues
