Hi, I'm Amanda Di Perna, the Program Manager at Debris Free Oceans!

My Journey with Debris Free Oceans

In 2022, I joined Debris Free Oceans as a Chef Andrew Scholar while pursuing my B.S. in Marine Biology at Florida International University. This life-changing experience provided me with hands-on exposure to ocean advocacy and plastic reduction, fueling my passion for conservation. After graduating last year as one of FIU's Outstanding Graduates, stepping into my current role as Program Manager felt like a dream come true. Today, I am fortunate to lead initiatives that empower Miami-Dade communities to go zero-waste and combat plastic pollution. Every day, I'm honored to help build on Debris Free Oceans' mission.

Why I'm Fundraising

Since 2014, Debris Free Oceans has made a real difference in Miami, but there's still so much more to be done! This Give Miami Day, I'm raising funds to expand our programs -- especially the Chef Andrew Scholar Program. This program opened the door for me to pursue my passion, and your support will allow us to help more students discover their path in ocean conservation and equip them with the tools to create a lasting impact.
