By supporting Eco Axion Initiatives' Ready, Set, Grow! and The Happy Seeds Project, you are helping us bring gardens and seed libraries to Miami's most vulnerable communities. Our Ready, Set, Grow! program, an award-winning initiative that earned the 2024 Master Gardener Volunteer Award of Excellence for Demonstration Garden, has planted hundreds of seeds this year across various communities, including three Child Learning Centers (two in Little Haiti and one in Liberty City), a Miami Bridge Youth Safe Place in Little Havana, a children’s academy in El Portal, and a community garden serving families who have experienced homelessness.

Through hands-on gardening education, we empower individuals to grow fresh, nutritious food, promoting health and wellness while fostering meaningful connections. The Happy Seeds Project extends this by teaching participants to harvest, package, and share seeds, ensuring the cycle of growth continues. Together, these programs cultivate a healthier, more connected, and sustainable future for Miami.

Our team of Florida Certified Master Gardeners leads workshops that teach sustainable gardening practices, including composting, natural fertilization, eco-friendly pest management, upcycling materials, and companion planting. We also guide participants in harvesting and creating seed libraries to continue the cycle of growth. With your help, we can combat hunger, reduce obesity, and eliminate food deserts. Join us in expanding this impactful program, educating more communities, and creating more thriving green spaces. Your support can make a lasting difference!

The Ready, Set, Grow! initiative has been recognized as a pioneering initiative by the University of Florida IFAS Extension, created by Master Gardener alumni to empower communities through gardening education. To read the first in a series of blog posts highlighting the program, click here. Additionally, the program has garnered support from the City of Miami, including Mayor Francis Suarez. Watch the video of our first garden activation at Eaton Child Learning Center, where parents, teachers, and children came together to build a garden on-site, by clicking here. As of today, all the gardens we’ve activated have yielded a substantial amount of produce. The harvest is collected and distributed in bundles to families, who have shared their joy with us by sending photos of the recipes they’ve made using fresh, garden-grown ingredients.
