As CFO for Genesis Hopeful Haven, I feel privileged to have a firsthand, real-time insight into how the funds we raise this Give Miami Day will have far-reaching impacts in the lives of the 300+ foster youth we serve every year. The facts speak for themselves - the youth and young adults in the GHH programs are more likely to graduate high school and college, gain and maintain employment, have healthy relationships, find stable housing, gain financial literacy and so many other life skills that will help them not only survive into adulthood, but truly thrive into a purpose-driven life. Any support you are able to give is so appreciated and will be used to underwrite tutoring, participant transportation to and from our programs, meals & housing needs, just to name a few.

As Genesis Hopeful Haven (GHH) celebrates its 10th anniversary, I am reminded of the tremendous needs of youth transitioning out of foster care in our community. In South Florida alone, well over 150 youth age out of foster care each year. Many of these resilient young people face the daunting task of building their lives without the safety net of a family or community.

Imagine facing adulthood without a network to rely on—no one to teach you to drive, no one to share holidays with, no one to call when you land your first job or need guidance during tough times. These are things many of us take for granted, yet they’re essential to feeling secure, loved, and prepared for life’s challenges.

GHH does more than teach life skills. GHH provides these young adults with a caring community, helping them build confidence, celebrate milestones, and learn the skills they need to become truly independent. But we can’t do it alone.
