As members of Locust Projects Board of Directors, we are appealing to you to join us to HELP MAKE ART HAPPEN by CHAMPIONING Locust Projects on Give Miami Day.
Founded by artists for artists in 1998, Locust Projects is a nationally recognized alternative art space and incubator of new art and ideas, filling a vital role in Miami's arts ecosystem for artists and visitors alike. Over the past 26 years we have supported 500+ local, national and international artists in making IMPOSSIBLE IDEAS AND BIG DREAMS POSSIBLE by helping them to experiment on a large scale pushing their practice in new directions and making breakthroughs in their careers.
Now more than ever, we need your HELP TO MAKE ART HAPPEN. We are one of the many arts organizations across the state impacted by the Governor's $32 million in budget cuts, losing the $123,000 grant funding we were recommended by the review panel to receive.
Your gift helps us sustain the work we do to provide artists with unique opportunities to experiment on a large scale and create ambitious, large-scale new work in our industrial warehouse in Little Haiti, aka Little Haiti. A new lease in 2023 helped us expand our support to artists by doubling our exhibition space and space for programming, temporary studios, a wood shop and new digital tools, resources, and onsite staff expertise that invites artists to experiment across media.
DID YOU KNOW? We also PROVIDE VITAL RESOURCES TO LOCAL ARTISTS - Miami artists of all disciplines empower and expand their careers with support from LegalARTLink, annually providing $500,000 in pro bono legal services and professional development resources like $60,000 in annual WaveMaker incubator grants for community-based projects.
We also mentor and inspire the NEXT GENERATION of creatives with Locust Art Builders for Teens every summer.
Admission to Locust Projects has been and will always be free.
Our mission in motion is fueled by local and national grants and vital donations from you!
