As you may know, Avalina and Averie are both neuro-divergent. Avalina is diagnosed with Autism and is non-verbal, and Averie is diagnosed with Autism and ADHD.
Sending your child to school can be scary without having to worry about their disabilities, and all the challenges that come with them. It was very disheartening when I interviewed schools because the options didn't seem promising. Either the school and their educational approach didn't seem great or it was the direction I wanted to go in, but there was no way I could afford it. Being a single mother, I don't have much extra to go towards Avalina and Averie's education. Public schools were an option but their special needs programs didn't fit with the needs my girls had. I noticed a "one size fits all" approach, and I felt I'd be doing them an injustice by placing them in that type of environment.
CRF was completely different. Yes, money is important to run a school, but I feel like they always put the children and their families first. I was assisted in receiving a scholarship and grant so I could send my girls to their school. They took the time to learn about my girls, their needs, and took the time to resolve any issues that were presented. We were not just another number coming in. The director and her staff have helped me tremendously and have made me feel like my girls are family.
Avalina and Averie were very far behind in their academics, due to their disabilities. I am proud to say that they both have improved immensely with the patience and dedication of their teachers and therapists. Averie has mainstreamed to a new school and although it's a bit of a drive for me, Avalina still attends CRF. The hours of traffic are more than worth it because I know Avalina is thriving at CRF and I know she is well taken care of. There are many families with special needs children who would also flourish, if given the chance to attend CRF. Your donation aids in helping these families receive the grants they need so their child can thrive and receive the education they need and deserve.
Any donations are appreciated. Small donations add up to make a big difference. Please donate anything you can and share this post with friends and family. It could make the world of a difference to someone special.
Get to know a little more about CRF:
Children's Resources (CRF) provides educational and therapeutic programs that enhance the learning potential and life skills of children with special needs as well as providing support to their families.
CRF serves children ages 18 months through 6th grade with a wide variety of disabilities such as, but not limited to , Autism, Developmental Delays, ADHD, Apraxia, Cerebral Palsy, Sensory Integration Disorders, Language Disorders, Down Syndrome, Genetic disorders, among others.
CRF is committed to offer early intervention, academics, and therapeutic services to the students it serves, regardless whether the family has the ability to pay tuition or not. Receiving these services helps our students reach their full potential.
CRF has a scholarship program that provides approximately 75% of families with financial aid assistance that allows the student to receive the educational or therapeutic services they need.
In addition to the academic and therapeutic programs, CRF provides our students with the opportunity to participate in sports and art related programs such as Dance, Yoga, Soccer, Music Therapy and Visual Art. This allows the students to find their creative side in an environment that understands them and where they can express themselves freely.
CRF has been providing these direct services since 1992 and through the years we have seen thousands of children grow, progress and thrive. The success of our students and our program is thanks to a team that believes in what we do. Children's Resources is a safe haven for kids with special needs. It is a place where they are all accepted, loved, and where they can feel safe and understood. It is a place where parents can feel that they are listened to, where they can find answers and solutions, where they don't feel alone but feel that there is a whole community supporting them and helping their child every day.
