Making a positive difference at MRMC

Working at the Miami Rescue Mission Clinic is like being part of a family where everyone works together to deliver high-quality medical care. I started my journey at the MRMC as a medical assistant in 2010 during my clinical rotation. I volunteered my time after completing the program and receiving my diploma, and the clinic became a home away from home. In 2016, I was given the opportunity to join the team and worked as a floater Medical Assistant at all 3 clinics. I was able to connect with patients and continue to provide compassionate care, which everyone deserves. 

Now as the Clinical Assistant, I work closely with our COO, Gisela Bretones-Graham, who has been with the clinic since its establishment in 2009. She is also a graduate of the same program with the same professors. Our founder and Medical Director, Dr. Pete Gutierrez, was also the Dean of Allied Health at MDC during my time in the program. With our deep roots in the same education system, we continue to provide dedicated top-quality medical care to those in need.

 As a member of the MRMC team, I've had the opportunity to touch many lives and make a positive difference. I vividly recall an encounter with a young woman who came to our clinic in 2018. She was in dire need of help, having not eaten or slept well for days. We were able to provide her with a hot meal, clean clothes, and a thorough medical checkup, which revealed that she was pregnant and required immediate medical attention. 

 Thanks to our team's efforts, we were able to provide her with the necessary treatment and connect her with housing, ensuring that she and her baby were safe and healthy. It's experiences like this that remind us of the importance of compassion and care for those in need, and I am proud to be a part of a team that is committed to making a positive impact in people's lives.
