Urgent Academy

Imagine an educational oasis designed for students to experience a learning journey where they have a meaningful voice and build the capacity to not only envision their future but design it. At Urgent Academy (UA), we are committed to the mission of empowering our learners to excel academically, explore their interests, drive their learning, and make meaningful contributions to their communities.  Our values are vested in creativity, learning, innovation, resourcefulness, intellectualism, criticality, reciprocity, equity, and inquiry.

Urgent Academy opened its doors in August 2024 in Historic Overtown Miami and is based on the growth and success of URGENT, Inc., a community-based creative youth development nonprofit celebrating 30 years of service to the Miami, FL, community. 

An independent career and technical education private school, Urgent Academy serves a learning community of students in grades 6-8. Urgent Academy is designed to celebrate learning through the arts, interests, and real-world connections while empowering students to navigate and thrive in a connected and technological world through a blend of rigorous academics and practical skills tailored for today’s challenges. 

Our unique program emphasizes project-based learning, which prepares students for dynamic futures in various fields. Students benefit from real-world off-campus learning, fostering practical skills and strong community ties. Additionally, our curriculum is bolstered by authentic assessments that reflect real-world competencies rather than traditional testing. 

UA is currently accepting students for school year 2024-2025 and rising 6th graders for the fall of 2025.
