Team Kareem Memorial Foundation was founded in 2015 by Arkeisha Reese, mother of Kareem Angel Green, who tragically lost his life due to a drowning incident at his school. It was his first field trip and last. Since it's inception, the organization has worked tirelessly to educate families on being safe in and around the water! We truly work hard so that Kareem's family's pain won't have to be experienced by others.

Drowning happens fast and it is silent! Each year, about 4,000 people drown in the United States. Drowning kills more children 1-4 years of age than anything else except birth defects. Last year, Florida lost 104 children to drowning and sadly we have already surpassed that number this year as 107 children have drowned here in the Sunshine State. Swim lessons, life vests, water watchers and CPR when used properly are designed to help prevent drownings in young children.

With a strong desire to ensure that no other parent would have to endure the heartache she experienced; Arkeisha set out on a mission to provide a vital resource for children and families in her community.

Through the Team Kareem Memorial Foundation, Arkeisha provides scholarships for swim lessons, CPR Training and lifeguard certifications for those in need.

Post the 2020 Covid pandemic, We have been able to provide over 250 families with water safety education in Miami-Dade County.

Mission

Team Kareem Memorial Foundation is an organization whose mission is to put an end to childhood drowning. To accomplish this, Arkeisha builds relationships with the community and provides scholarships for children to receive free swim lessons. However, due to her passion, it doesn't end there. She provides the family with resources such as food, back to school supplies, and holiday toys. She provides caregivers with free CPR/1st aid certification. She provides young adults with scholarships to become certified Life guards and water day safety instructors. In 2024, FL lost 104 children to drowning incidents. Team Kareem's vision is that #NotOneMore occurs. Team Kareem is dedicated to help our children learn how to save themselves one lesson at a time!
