WHY WE ARE HERE
Miami-Dade is in a quiet crisis. Not the kind you see on the news. The kind happening behind closed doors, in homes that are one broken appliance, one hurricane season, or one insurance cancellation away from becoming unsafe.
We see it every day: a senior trying to cool her home with a fan because her A/C died in July; A father who hasn’t cooked a warm meal for his kids in weeks because the stove stopped working; A mother bathing using water heated on the stove because her water heater failed months ago.
These are our neighbors, who are now forced to choose between feeding their loved ones or repairing the place that keeps them safe.
No one should have to make that choice. And yet, this is the reality for thousands of Miami-Dade residents living on fixed or limited incomes.
This year alone, we repaired 95 homes and helped 245 neighbors stay safely housed. We replaced roofs, restored cooling systems, fixed leaking plumbing, installed water heaters, and made once-dangerous environments livable again. We launched our new Heat Emergency Program for seniors living in dangerous heat and improved energy efficiency for hundreds of low-income homeowners.
But even with all we’ve done, the need is growing faster than the resources available.
Our phones are ringing nonstop: seniors without A/C, families dropped by insurance because their roofs are too old, parents whose refrigerators or stoves have failed with no means to replace them.
So, this Give Miami Day, our goal is simple: every dollar raised will be directed towards emergency home repairs. These are small, urgent fixes that keep families from sliding into homelessness or crisis. We are talking about working water heaters, functioning stoves, repaired windows, reliable appliances, and a cool bedroom during a heat wave. These are the low-cost but high-need repairs that many of us take for granted but that allow a house to be a home.
Because home is the foundation for everything else: health, education, stability, and dignity.
So, thank you for showing up and thank you for making Miami-Dade safer for our most vulnerable neighbors, one home at a time.
WHO WE ARE
Rebuilding Together Miami is a people-first, community-driven nonprofit founded over 30 years ago to preserve safe, healthy, and affordable homes across Miami-Dade County. Over three decades, we have become a trusted leader in housing rehabilitation and neighborhood revitalization, delivering measurable impact one home at a time.
We are the only housing nonprofit in Miami-Dade County providing critical, high-priority repairs at no cost to low-income residents. To date, we have rehabilitated more than 1,500 single-family homes and 38 community centers, ensuring that vulnerable families can remain safely housed and rooted in their neighborhoods. Our work has also reinvested over $23 million back into the community, strengthening the local economy while reducing inequities.
Recognizing that housing is a key social determinant of health, we address hazards that compromise safety, stability, and well-being. By repairing roofs, eliminating environmental risks, and improving accessibility, we help prevent displacement, protect public health, and preserve affordable housing stock.
Backed by strong partnerships, disciplined financial stewardship, and a reputation for quality, Rebuilding Together Miami stands as a cornerstone of Miami's housing safety net by revitalizing entire neighborhoods while also advancing dignity, health, and opportunity for those most at risk.
Repairing homes, revitalizing communities, rebuilding lives.
