Rebuilding Together Miami-Dade

For over 30 years, Rebuilding Together Miami-Dade (RTMD) has provided home repair and modification services for Miami-Dade county’s most vulnerable homeowners. As the only local organization addressing this particular need county-wide, we have the expertise and infrastructure to tackle critical home repairs and secure safe, healthy, and naturally occurring affordable housing for all.

This Give Miami Day, you have the chance to help build a stronger, safer, and more resilient community. After an intense hurricane season, we are dedicating our efforts to reworking our organization to protect the most vulnerable residents when it comes to disasters. We’ve been fortunate here in Miami—30 years since Hurricane Andrew—but another devastating storm will come. Something that we have learned is that it may not be this year or the next, but we must prepare as many residents as possible while we have the time and resources.

Our mission goes beyond repairing homes—we’re equipping homeowners with the knowledge and resources they need to secure proper insurance and make lasting improvements. A goal of Rebuilding Together Miami has been to revamp our programs to focus on strengthening homes to withstand natural disasters, with an emphasis on helping those most at risk due to their location, income, or the lasting effects of housing inequality. 

The region is often cited as one of the most at-risk metro areas globally due to a changing climate. Low-income communities often find themselves disproportionately impacted by severe natural disasters. This disparity arises from their aging and less resilient infrastructure, which leaves them particularly vulnerable to the devastating effects of powerful winds and flooding. 

It’s time to stop patching the cracks. Together, we can build a foundation that stands strong against future storms. Hurricanes are getting stronger, but so are we. Let’s [Re]Build—not just for today, but for generations to come.
