One More Child

One More Child has brought hope-filled care to children and families since 1904. We exist to impact the lives of children and families through Christ-centered services. In 2021, we impacted 324,467 children and individuals through our main service areas of Foster Care, Single Moms, Child Hunger, Anti-Trafficking, Global and Family Support.
Specifically in the Miami-Dade area, we provide single mothers and their children with on-campus housing, skills training, mentorship and tangible needs. In addition, we host a child hunger program for area kids and have begun a relationship with Citrus to be able to soon license foster families in South Florida.
There are more than 24 million children in the United States living in single-parent families. In addition to serving children through foster care, this is why One More Child now serves single moms and their children. The Single Moms program teaches mothers to work toward setting goals with the guidance of dedicated and supportive staff while living in a residential setting with her children on our Miami campus. The program is designed to accommodate women age 18 and older for approximately 9-12 months. Our current program graduation rate is 93%.
Some of the ways we work to provide self-sufficiency to families include:
• Providing housing in safe, secure locations
• Assist with working toward career advancement
• Having Godly women offer wisdom and friendship as mentors
• Assistance continuing or completing their education
• Helping develop budgets and requiring them to save money
• Teaching them how to cook nutritious meals that are simple and cost effective
• Connecting them with local churches
• Teaching them life skills that will help them be better mothers to their children
At our 25 Florida locations and 14 International sites, we strive to be agents of positive change in the lives of those in need. Our focus is in finding unique and valuable ways to meet the needs of more children, locally and globally.
