Movement lawyering is a discipline and an approach to legal advocacy that is grounded in the belief that lawyers act in the highest interest of justice and equity when they use their skills to advance grassroots organizing led by directly impacted people. We are rooted communities whose conditions, challenges, and visions for change drive our professional agenda.

We believe that meaningful social change can only happen when directly impacted communities organize and shift power.  In order for Florida to move closer to this goal, the base-building ecosystem needs access to high-quality, dedicated legal and policy support to bring their demands to fruition, and defensive legal support to ensure they can continue to push towards a more visionary future.

From young people fighting against police brutality and mass incarceration, to workers fighting for living wages; to displaced residents in fighting for access to dignified housing and relief post disaster; to renters and mobile home owners fighting for basic rights as tenants; or Black and Latinx communities fighting gentrification and cultural erasure, we offer support to people who come together organically for the sake of a better Florida.

We use a variety of tools, from Litigation to Grassroots Policy Advocacy, Research and Narrative Shaping; Arts integrations (including an Artist-in-Residence program); Capacity Building; and Strategy to support the growth of movement organizations and organizers that are critical to our evolving ecosystem.

Known as " CJP " by clients and friends.
