The Boys & Girls Clubs of Miami-Dade currently operate two programs, Project Learn (Kinder-5th Grade) and Great Futures for Teens (6th - 12th Grades). Project Learn offers a safe and structured environment with evidence-based activities for children such as: Playbooks Reader's Theatre to improve literacy fluency and comprehension; Homework help to provide youth with support and guidance for completion of school work; Access to computers/internet for completion of online homework assignments; an evidence based SPARK program that offers physical fitness activities and physical challenges; and arts and crafts to foster creativity and art exploration. The activities also include: Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM), family engagement & enrichment activities, health education, and mentoring. Project Learn instills cooperation, teamwork, aerobic games, and enjoyable skills and sports activities. The program curriculum is written in scope and progressive sequence. Over the last few years we have been able to retain our State of Florida Board Certified teachers who tutor struggling students as well as Exceptional Student Education (ESE) Specialists who work specifically with children who have a disability. Approximately 15% of the children in our programs have a disability.

Our Great Futures for Teens program serve youth during after-school hours at all our sites. The program offers an enriching curriculum that encompasses academic support, physical fitness, sports, and college and career readiness for the youth. We also provide STEM, arts, & rec. programs for teens that promote balance and well-being. BGCMIA programming helps empower youth to achieve at higher levels. We promote economic empowerment and entrepreneurship to help break the cycle of generational economic despair!

Mission

The Boys and Girls Clubs (BGC) of Miami-Dade was founded in 1946. Throughout the years, we have provided thousands of youth from low and moderate income families a safe haven away from bad influences during the most vulnerable times of the day when school is out. Every year we strive to find exciting ways to improve/adapt our programs and services to keep them relevant, interesting, educational, and current. We make sure to listen, assess, and respond to the changing needs of our youth, families, and community as a whole. Our mission is to "enable all young people, especially those who need us most, to reach their full potential as productive, caring, and responsible citizens."
