For almost 60 years, Sunrise Community's mission remains steadfast, and our goal is to ensure that people with intellectual and developmental disabilities, such as Down syndrome, Cerebral Palsy, Spina bifida, Autism and other related disabilities,  can enjoy a robust and fulfilling life in a safe and caring environment.  

The Sunrise team provides a comprehensive person-centered care approach to every person supported by our dedicated staff.  

Our primary service is our Residential Program where our staff/caregivers assist individuals who reside in a Sunrise community home (aka group home), engaging each person so he/she can develop and thrive in a community-inclusive environment. 

For individuals who can live in the comfort of their own home, we offer In-Home Support services delivered by our qualified Direct Support Professionals (aka caregivers).  Another fundamental service provided by Sunrise is our Day Programming at our Adult Day Training (ADT) centers where participants receive instruction on life skills, communication and social skills, health & fitness guidance and in some cases, job training skills, in a friendly and supportive setting.  

At Sunrise, our staff is focused on addressing the needs of the people we serve through the best of times, but especially through the worst of times. Our "Refuge from the Storm" initiative provides a habitable environment in which the people we support can ride out the storm in safety and comfort. This initiative includes installing impact windows and generators in our Sunrise homes and Adult Day Training (ADT) centers.

Our goal is to ensure all of our homes have impact hurricane windows installed as this is a long-term protective measure to the ever-present weather conditions and its destructive aftermath, as recently experienced by our neighbors impacted by Hurricane Helene and Milton.
