Boy Scouts of America, South Florida Council was founded in 1911 and has mentored in excess of one million youth in our community. Boy Scouts of America, South Florida Council is a true family program as boy and girls ages 5 - 20 are welcome to join any of our 7 programs. Boy Scouts of America, South Florida Council serves over 40,000 youth in our various programs. Our programs include: Cub Scouting ( Elementary School Youth), Scouts BSA ( Middle & High School Youth), Venturing (High Adventure), Sea Scouts, Exploring (Hands on Career Educational Experiences for High School Students), Learning for Life (School Based Character Education Program) and our Outreach Initiatives program. Our Outreach Initiatives program gives special leadership and emphasis to urban and rural Scouting programs. Our Outreach Initiatives program is committed to making sure that all young people have an opportunity to join Scouting, regardless of their circumstances, neighborhood, or ethnic background. The youth today face many challenges including the increase of violence in the schools, a greater influence of substance abuse, disintegrating neighborhoods and more. The Outreach Initiatives program meets the developmental needs of youth in the urban and rural settings of Over town, City of Miami, Liberty City, Miami Gardens and Homestead to name a few. Scouting, by emphasizing ethics and moral values, address many of the social concerns of parents and youth in our country. Scouting prepares urban and rural youth to be leaders, to accept responsibility, and to care about principles and causes beyond their own self-interest. Our Outreach Initiatives program is a well-defined program based on values, learning by doing, fun, and positive role models.
