Founded in 2009, the SFDA fulfills this mission through four key initiatives:
REBOOT | MIAMI, BROWARD, & PALM BEACH
Through the collection of donated equipment, computers are refurbished and placed back into the community to support nonprofits, schools, and community-focused organizations and programs.
TECHNOLOGY LEARNING CENTERS (TLCs)
In partnership with local municipalities, the SFDA facilitates public computer labs, connecting our neighbors and communities online while providing resources to enable after-school programs, adult education, and job training. There are currently Twenty-seven TLC locations.
POWER-UP | NON-PROFIT TECHNOLOGY SUPPORT
The SFDA offers its technical acumen and resources to serve and support nonprofit organizations; ensuring maximization of technology investments in supporting their operations and community programs.
LEVEL-UP | TECHNOLOGY 101
The SFDA provides internships and career-path counseling to local students focused on developing technology skillsets and professional attributes; those essential to establishing a world-class competitive workforce.
To date, the South Florida Digital Alliance has successfully refurbished and placed 4000+ computers back into the community.
Mission
The South Florida Digital Alliance works towards Bringing the Digital Divide in our shared community by facilitating public access to both computers and the Internet, promoting digital literacy, and providing technology workshops and resources to support local nonprofits.
COVID 19 RESPONSE: Specific to helping support the community during this challenging crisis, the SFDA has worked to place hundreds of computers in the homes of families in need; this, allowing for students to remain connected and engaged with distant learning opportunities and, for adults to have vital access to important resources and information. This crisis has highlighted the importance of technology in keeping our greater community connected while helping to enhance the general quality of life for our fellow neighbors.
