RTV has multiple programs and initiatives that we use to inspire change in our local community.
Family Mentoring Weekend is one of our long-standing programs. For over 20 years, RTV has hosted at least 1 Family Mentoring Weekend. This initiative serves 100 At-Risk families from low-income communities in Miami Dade County and takes them to a 5-star golf resort in Orlando. During this two and half-day retreat, we host financial literacy workshops and conflict resolution activities catered toward rebuilding the family unit. Since Covid, we have changed the scope from a weekend to a day and from Orlando to local schools. But the message and mission stay the same.
We look forward to serving more families again very soon.
Our Vision Smart Kids (VSK) & Vision Smart Teens (VST) programs are after-school and summer camp programs for our youth.
Our after-school programs are offered at four locations five days a week and provide students with career planning, academic assistance, and tutoring even for the SAT and the ACT. Our summer camp programs double down on the educational focus. However, the summer camp program features many more field trips and activities to engage the students in exciting new ways.
PREPARED Date Night is one of our adult-based programs. RTV provides a host of activities to strengthen, enlighten and provide fun engagement for all participants. It includes seven date nights for couples who commit to completing the project. The goal of PREPARED Date Nights is to prevent tragic families by preparing couples on how to build strong ones through immersive marriage and relationship education.
Mission
Started in 1994 by Dr. Jacqueline Del Rosario, ReCapturing the Vision International (RTV) is focused on supporting at-risk youth to succeed in environments lacking supportive structures to promote their success. Our vision is one in which every child has an opportunity to grow. A child who enters school in good health, feeling safe and connected to their school, is ready to learn. To achieve our vision, we focus on building supportive structures that create the conditions for learning. In other words, we focus on educating the whole child.
