Parkinson's Foundation

A nonprofit organization

As a national organization with a local presence and impact, the Parkinson's Foundation brings help and hope to the estimated one million individuals in the United States, 10 million worldwide, who are living with Parkinson's disease (PD). In the State of Florida alone, there are a minimally estimated 79,990 individuals living with PD. The Florida Chapter directly engages these individuals to provide life-changing support and hope for a better life with Parkinson's.

We help people live well with PD by providing families with free resources, including educational programs in our local communities, life-saving hospitalization kit, online forums designed to provide community, educational books, videos, podcasts and smartphone apps. These tools empower people living with PD to be more involved with the management of their disease and improve their quality of life.

Our research has led to breakthroughs in treatment and continues to improve care that brings hope to the entire Parkinson's community. Since 1957, the Foundation has invested more than $368 million in Parkinson's disease (PD) research and clinical care. As research plays a vital role in helping us better understand Parkinson's, the Parkinson's Foundation funds and supports many paths of research.

We actively work to better understand Parkinson's from the perspective of everyone in our PD community, including those living with PD, care partners, researchers, healthcare professionals and research advocates.
