Welcome, Miami! We're so glad you're here. We invite you to learn a bit about us and our purpose below. Any contribution, big or small, will bring us closer to our goal. With gratitude, the SFPF and Leadership Miami Team.
Our History
Since the 1960’s, the South Florida Progress Foundation (SFPF), the nonprofit arm of the Greater Miami Chamber of Commerce, has funded projects for improving race relations, increasing primary educational achievement and secondary education attainment, addressing the problem of homelessness, developing future leaders in South Florida, and creating intervention programs for at-risk youth. Additionally, the SFPF helped produce the One Community One Goal initiative that has formed the blueprint for economic development in key industries since the 1990s. Today, through the generous contributions of supporters like yourself, the foundation supports much of the Chamber’s work on diversity and inclusion, helping Black-owned and minority-owned small businesses prosper.
Our Mission
The core mission of the SFPF is to leverage the relationships fostered by the Greater Miami Chamber of Commerce (GMCC), which includes South Florida business professionals, entrepreneurs, and civic leaders, to identify key issues, set priorities, and develop solutions through programmatic activities—all funded by donations, endowments, and grants. Many of these initiatives align with the goals of the GMCC, which are reviewed and renewed annually.
The mission of Leadership Miami® is to prepare the next generation of Miamians to address vital issues affecting Miami-Dade County and meet future challenges. To achieve this, sessions focus on developing the leadership skills needed in today’s fast-changing business climate while encouraging further exploration and action on specific community issues.
Our Impact
Through the SFPF, we have awarded scholarships to hundreds of Leadership Miami® fellows who otherwise would not have had the opportunity to participate in this signature leadership development program. Over the past 46 years, Leadership Miami has produced some of our top community leaders, including: Former Florida Lt. Gov. and FIU President, Jeanette Núñez; Carlos Migoya, CEO at Jackson Health; Art Noriega, City of Miami Manager; Francesca de Quesada Covey, Miami-Dade County’s Chief Innovation and Economic Development Officer; Felipe Basulto, Market President – Retail in South Florida at TD Bank, Jaret Davis, Senior Vice President at Greenberg Traurig, P.A.; Kim Griffin Hunter, Managing Partner at Deloitte; Michael Lewis, Publisher of Miami Today; Christine Barney, CEO of RBB; Carlos Fernandez Guzman, CEO of Pacific National Bank; and many other leaders at the helm of both private and public institutions.
Our Goal
This year, the funds raised will directly support the Leadership Miami® program—an impactful initiative that empowers emerging leaders and drives community revitalization projects. These efforts are designed to strengthen our nonprofit sector, create lasting change for residents in need, and leave a positive, sustainable impact on the vibrant city we are proud to call home. Your donation will directly help us achieve the following:
