Lavender Ribbon Initiative

Lavender Ribbon Initiative is a 501 (c)(3), youth-led non-profit organization dedicated to supporting childhood cancer patients and their families. Officially founded in 2022 by our CEO Alexander Ramos, his family's experiences with many different types of cancer inspired him and his friends to start LRI, with the goal of getting more of the youth involved with supporting childhood cancer. Our organization has brought young people together to spread awareness for childhood cancer and support the cause through donations to research, donation of care packages to patients and survivors, and interactive arts & crafts projects. 

To date, Lavender Ribbon Initiative has donated over 400 books and toys to Nicklaus Children's Hospital, along with over 100 holiday grams and cards to patients. In addition to direct Hospital donations, LRI has sent over 20 personalized care packages to childhood cancer patients and survivors all across the United States through our A Snuggle From Hope Program. All of the toys, books, and other items we donate come from donation drives and community efforts through our national and FIU chapters. 

In the future, we hope to expand our programs into more hospitals throughout Florida and send more A Snuggle From Hope boxes to patients and survivors. We also plan on hosting more community-centered events that bring together young people to learn more about childhood cancer and how they can support the lives of patients, survivors, and their families. With this goal in mind, we are working on opening more chapters, including one at the School for Advanced Studies Homestead Campus, to grow our impact.
