$5,000 Goal

After a shimmering inaugural season, the Key Biscayne Poetry Share is back for Season II! In our first season Debbie Wanninkhof and the KB Poetry Committee inspired Island residents and visitors to “Write a Gem Poem* about their Island Home!” (*A Gem is a 16-word, 7-line, diamond-shaped poem.) We had over 200 submissions and celebrated National Poetry Month, Shakespeare’s birthday, and our original Gem Poems on April 26, 2024 at Paradise Park.
Our Season II initiative, Poets in Our Parks was conceived by Andrew Britton, member of the Poetry Committee and on the staff of the KB Community Foundation. Andrew’s vision of relaxing in the beauty of Key Biscayne parks while connecting our community with poetry has taken off.
The Key Biscayne Poetry Share uplifts the voices of Key Biscayne residents, visitors, and Miami poets. Our focus is poetry, but we support music, art, dance, theatre, film, and all artists who enrich our lives and shine a light on the importance of art.

Mission

The Key Biscayne Poetry Share’s goal is to inspire Island residents and visitors to “sound” their vital and creative voices to express thoughts, feelings, and ideas through POETRY, fostering inner reflection, illumination of nature’s beauty, community connection, and a love of poetic verses.
