Howard Dr Elementary Pta

Howard Drive Elementary PTA is the PTA for a small public school in the Palmetto Bay area. Our school stands out not only because we have amazing students, teachers, staff, and administration, but because our size truly allows us to be a family. Every administrator and teacher knows the name of every student that attends the school. We work hard to make the school a welcoming environment for every type of student who needs a home. We are the proud home of the Compass Academy, a group of inclusion classrooms for those who need it. We are also home to one of the few Kindergarten gifted classes in the area. Our small size means that the PTA is asked to fund many projects around the school, so we are always grateful for any funds we can access to help our students. This year, we plan to use these funds to purchase technology for our school, specifically Promethean Boards to replace malfunctioning ones in classrooms and new computers for classrooms that need them.

Promethean Boards are interactive digital whiteboards used in the classrooms at Howard Drive Elementary. They allow teachers to write on the board, in a traditional manner, but they also allow videos, projections, annotations, and for the students to interact with whatever is on the board. Our teachers love their Prometheans, but some are older. Their bulbs result in out-of-focus projections and the reaction times are not what they were. We are starting the project to replace all of the Prometheans in the building, by raising funds to see how many we can do each year. Each board costs approximately $3000 and we hope to replace 3 to 4. Please help us reach this goal!
