Gideon's Hope

Gideon's Hope was created to help devoted, skilled Assistant Public Defenders by awarding them a sum of money to supplement their income so that they can afford to continue working at the Public Defender's Office and fighting for the poor of Miami. Each year, Gideon's Hope awards scholarships to at least 2 Assistant Public Defenders who have worked at the Office between 2 1/2 to 5 years. To date, 23 incredible lawyers have received the award -- thanks to the generous donations from people like you. No other state or local community in the country supports its criminal defense public servants the way you do. Gideon's Hope - and you - recognize the necessity for and significance of having exceptional representation for the underprivileged. When our PDs stand up for the defenseless, they stand up for us all.

2026 marks the 10th year that Gideon's Hope has given awards to these amazing attorneys, many of whom remain at the office serving the voiceless in our community.  We are unbelievably grateful for the ability to have continued this award for a decade.  Wow!  This year, we are privileged to honor 2 unforgettable APDs whose advocacy for their clients and colleagues knew no bounds - David Weed and Zena Duncan.  Thank you for your support!!
