GI 305

Our Mission

GI 305 is a nonprofit community organization that started in 2023. Our mission is to foster social and economic enfranchisement for the residents and workforce of Miami, Florida. We achieve this through the establishment of a guaranteed income program and organizing initiatives that promote community self-determination. The residents of Miami-Dade’s historically neglected neighborhoods are facing unprecedented disinvestment and displacement. With rising property values, increasing housing costs, and growing income inequality, the need for guaranteed income has never been more urgent. We empower our people, and learn the tools and resources we need to reclaim our neighborhoods and futures. We are currently working in zipcodes within Allapattah, Florida City, Homestead, Hialeah, Liberty City, Little Haiti, Little Havana, Overtown, Westchester, and Wynwood.

Our Vision

We envision a Miami-Dade County where every resident enjoys the right to afford basic needs, stay in their neighborhoods, and actively participate in shaping their future. Our goal is to build a thriving, inclusive, and equitable community where economic stability is guaranteed for all.

Our Approach

• GI 305 Community Fund: In April 2024, GI 305 began dispersing unconditional, unrestricted, and recurring cash payments to five local Miami residents facing displacement. In the few short months of the program so far, guaranteed income is shaping a new kind of economy in the cohort members’ lives - one marked by increased power, amplified voice, and reclaimed time. • Young People's GI: In August 2025, GI 305 will start a cash transfer program for third-grade students attending Miami-Dade County area schools. We have been fortunate enough to receive a $1 million commitment to provide weekly allowances to students starting in third grade, through their senior year of high school. • Organizing and Education: We view guaranteed income not just as a financial support tool but as a catalyst for community organizing and education. By fostering leadership development, relationship-building, and a strong member-led organization, we aim to transition from a pilot program to a permanent, community-sustained initiative.

Our Work

• Community Engagement: Strengthening relationships with stakeholders, elected officials, and community organizations to amplify our voice and influence.
