Florida Community Innovation (FCI) has a unique model of collaborating with undergraduate and graduate students for validated research identifying social problems and resource gaps, which are then addressed with civic tech projects led by young professional volunteers and paid student workers.
One of FCI's two flagship projects is the Florida Community Resource Map (detailed here: https://floridacommunityinnovation.com/about-2/). The Map is an interactive, public-facing portal through which Floridians can quickly and conveniently locate key resources available to them, including but not limited to: healthcare, food and nutrition, employment resources, and more. The Map will expand statewide with the third release.
FCI's other flagship project is the GobBituary app. With the City of Miami, Parks & Recreation Department, FCI is empowering young professionals and student workers to build a historical education app that introduces Floridians to the historic City Cemetary. FCI is hoping to completely fund the GoBituary app through Give Miami Day fundraising. Learn more about the GoBituary project: https://floridainnovation.org/gobituary/
The Florida Community Innovation Foundation (FCI) conducts groundbreaking work connecting Florida's citizens with trusted information and resources to navigate challenging times. We do this by building innovative, human-centered technology, and conducting persuasive public education campaigns that move the needle on access to services and compliance with public health guidance.
FCI exists to empower young innovators to build scalable social services technology for their communities. We are a network of young professional volunteers and envision a Florida where everyone has equal access to trusted information, critical services, and rewarding careers.
