The Redlands is a bucolic South Florida farming community near the Everglades. Unfortunately, it is also a "dumping ground" for unwanted dogs and a rampant breeding ground for feral dogs. Formed in 2012 to address the overpopulation of homeless, stray, and abandoned dogs in this community, Redland Dog Sanctuary, Inc. (a/k/a Dogs in Crisis, Inc.) provides shelter, food, medical care, enrichment, and training to as many as 100 dogs at a time. Dogs at RDS are typically the more challenging American bully breeds, Shepherds, and Malinois mixes. Many arrive severely malnourished and dehydrated with injuries from abuse. Often, they have behavioral difficulties resulting from their stressful circumstances, and this requires longer periods of care and rehabilitation. This dog population is our primary focus, and we have seen AWE-INSPIRING SUCCESS STORIES with some of the hardest cases. (Please take a moment to view our media gallery below.)
What we do (and the numbers for 2024 so far):
Importantly, RDS does all of the foregoing primarily with the work of volunteers. RDS founder and Director, Newton Siquiera, Jr., and Amy Spadaro, Board President are two of RDS' most important volunteers. They have committed immeasurable time and expertise with dogs and the animal welfare community to addressing animal welfare and overpopulation in the Redlands. RDS also has a generous list of pro-bono specialists (accountants, bookkeepers, attorneys, office management, social media promoters/advertisers, web-page managers and veterinarians) who make it possible to maximize every dollar we receive in grants and donations. YOUR DONATION LITERALLY "GOES TO THE DOGS" for food, medical, maintenance and training.
Finally, the most important thing you can "donate" is a HOME for one of our wonderful, loving, GRATEFUL dogs. Please visit our website redlanddogsanctuary.org and consider opening your home to one of our furever friends.
Our mission is to reduce the homeless dog population of the Redlands. We provide food, shelter, medical care and rehabilitation for abused, neglected, and abandoned dogs because we believe EVERY dog deserves a loving home.
