Dolphins Plus Marine Mammal Responder is the ONLY whale and dolphin rescue organization in all of south Florida. Our volunteers cover over 10,000 miles of marine ecosystem to respond to any sick, injured, stranded, abandoned, or out of habitat whale or dolphin. Marine mammal search, rescue, and recovery efforts are conducted from the Florida Keys to the southern edge of Biscayne National Park in Miami-Dade County. To date, DPMMR has responded to over 650 whales and dolphins in the South Florida region and operates off of revenue from our daily educational programs, donations from the general public, and grants. Our goal is to raise enough money to build the first ever whale and dolphin ICU hospital in South Florida so that we can rehabilitate local animals and return them to their ocean home. This goal will help save hundreds of animals and prevent them from being transported to other facilities for long term care.
In addtion to our rescue efforts, DPMMR provides impactful educational programs and lectures at UM/RSMAS in Key Biscayne, as well as various high schools in Miami-Dade and Monroe counties. DPMMR hosts UM/RSMAS students for onsite classes, as well as facilitates Masters and PhD students in accomplishing their degrees.
Our mission is to connect people with marine mammal conservation so that we can play a role in the conservation and protection of dolphins and whales. At the heart of our mission are four key pillars: Animal Welfare, Education and Outreach, Scientific Investigation, and Rescue and Rehabilitation.
Please help us reach our goal of creating the first and only whale and dolphin ICU in all of South Florida!
Dolphins Plus Marine Mammal Responder (DPMMR), a 501(c)3, is committed to the conservation and protection of marine mammals, worldwide, through our active involvement in conservation, research, extensive education, and outreach programs. DPMMR leads and operates the only whale and dolphin stranding organization covering 10,000 square miles of marine habitat in the Florida Keys. DPMMR promotes a greater understanding of marine ecosystem science, marine mammal conservation, and environmental stewardship via powerful daily interactions with the general public.
