$5,000 Goal

Conecta Miami Arts was born in 2017 out of an interest to create a platform where meaningful connections can be forged through artistic experiences. During our first year, Conecta focused on establishing strategic partnerships with local arts and community organizations as well as local artists who share the vision of developing a united and connected cultural landscape. Thus far, we have collaborated with the Adriana Barraza Acting Studio, the Miami Book Fair, Flamenco Festival, International Hispanic Theatre Festival, Centro Cultural Español, Little Haiti Book Festival, to name a few. We work with a diverse pool of young people ranging in ages from 5 - 35, both on and off the stage, so as to work towards our goal of reaching an entire generation through a variety of touch points that enable us to develop a sensitivity towards the arts in the lives of the members of our community. Some of our programs include:

NJB Lab - Conecta wants to explore establishing a Spanish-language theatre lab program aimed at young actors with existing performance experience who wish to extend their skills at a professional level and develop themselves as both collaborative and/or independent theatre and performance makers. This experimental method of theatre training will expand actor’s training, creative development, re-addressing acting as an embodied and exploratory art form at the heart of the theatre-making process. The purpose of this year-round program is to build on actor’s existing experience, deepening their skills in performance, and hopefully empowering them to play a revitalizing role in Miami’s theatre-making landscape.

Miami International Children's Theatre Festival - an annual theatre festival that will present some of the best local and international children's theatre companies to be enjoyed for FREE by Miami-Dade County Students. Miami is home to renowned cultural festivals such as Miami Book Fair, Art Basel, Miami Film Festival, to name a few; it is time to provide our youth the same opportunity with MICTF. We hope to produce an annual event that will offer an aspect of arts education that is not often readily available to children in this community: children's theatre. By making theatre freely available to the youngest members of our community, we ensure this art form continues to thrive and inspire the next generation of culture makers and participants.
