Nyah Project clears the pathway to college by providing training and tech tools that remove the practical and systemic barriers that prevent more than 40% of underrepresented high school students each year from accessing higher education.
IMPACT: We know what students need to improve college access outcomes. In fact, over the past 10 years, we have helped high school students unlock over $30 million in scholarships, with the median award of $217,000, avoid more than $18 million in student debt and successfully navigate the college admissions process at higher rates than national averages. Students in our fellowship program boast a 100% college matriculation rate with 98% winning scholarships. When quantified by scholarship dollars won to date, every dollar invested into Nyah Project yields a 45x return on impact.
Access Online, our on-demand college access coaching tech platform, helps individual students and organizations improve outcomes for a fraction of the cost of private coaching. Since 2021, our generous funding partners have enabled Nyah Project to subsidize over $425,000 to support more than 1,800 student users who have amassed over 56,000 individual course enrollments.
VISION: We know that access to higher education changes lives. A college degree is one of the greatest opportunity accelerators-- generating increased lifetime earnings and faster social mobility. We have a bold vision. We’re on a mission to unlock more than $1 billion in scholarships and support 100,000 students through their college admissions journey.
WHO WE SERVE: Over 99% of youth identify as BIPOC, 90% hail from low- and moderate-income populations, 60% are female, 10% LGBTQIA, and at least 44% are first generation college students. 90% live in Miami-Dade County and 10% live in Broward County.

MISSION: Nyah Project provides training and tech based tools to remove the practical and systemic barriers to the life-changing opportunities that higher education brings.
VISION: To support more than 100,000 underrepresented students through their college admissions journey and unlock more than $1 billion in scholarships.
HISTORY: In 2014, Leigh-Ann Buchanan founded Nyah Project to clear the pathway into college for underrepresented students.
Our initial signature program, the Global Youth Leadership Fellowship, gave our Fellows an experience to write about and help them stand out in college & scholarship applications. Since then, our primary outcomes have expanded to training the next generation of purposeful leaders from underrepresented backgrounds through local and international leadership development experiences, whilst democratizing access to colleges + scholarships through strategy coaching via our Access methodology.
