Listed on the National Register of Historic Places, The Kampong was the historic home and personal garden of famed plant explorer Dr. David Fairchild, and later philanthropist and preservationist Catherine Sweeney. The waterfront estate features the Mission/Spanish Revival style house. Completed in 1928, the House is built around a Breezeway which frames the view of the Bay. The House is distinguished by its intricate architectural detailing, exemplified by the wood-carved motifs on the stair tower windows, as well as the spectacular stone work from Java surrounding one of the exterior doors.
