Sheridan House Family Ministries

50 years ago, Sheridan House set out on the mission to “honor Christ by serving the needs of children and families.” What began as one residential home with eight boys has since developed into three homes serving 59 boys and their families, along with several other family ministries. Sheridan House leadership noticed that over 80% of the children referred to the Residential Program came from single parent households. Thus, we started our Single Moms Program 37 years ago and now serve single moms and their kids who struggle with financial, emotional, or material needs. We’re excited that families moved into our first Single Moms Transitional Housing Triplex in June of 2018, and construction has begun on the second one! In 1988 our first Counseling Center opened, the second in 2011, and now 3,843 families and individuals receive professional counseling services by licensed therapists. We also serve people internationally, impacting lives through podcasts, and seminars that Dr. Bob Barnes, CEO, teaches with his wife and daughter. Many people also utilize the books, CDs, and Parenting on Purpose curriculum, blog, and smart phone application to assist in developing parenting skills.
