NWD Projects

NWD Projects, directed by Dale Andree, was formed to support the work of National Water Dance as well as to create and promote other environmentally inspired dance projects. The mission of NWD Projects is to promote dance as a voice for environmental awareness through collaborations with the artistic, environmental, educational, and technological communities. It grew out of the development of National Water Dance, a site-specific, simultaneous, live streamed performance across the US. Partnering with community organizations such as the Marjory Stoneman Douglas Biscayne Nature Center, Miami Waterkeeper and the Deering Estate, these performances involve Miami dance artists, students from magnet schools and college programs. This year NWD Projects will be partnering with AIRIE (Artist in Residence in the Everglades) to produce a dance performance in Everglades National Park on December 30, 2018. This is a result of Ms Andree’s research in the park, having been selected as a resident artist for October 2018. In May 2019 NWD Projects will be presenting a performance, photo exhibit and film at History Miami Museum, based on the Everglades experience. Video is a major component of NWD Projects work. “Home”, a dance on camera video created in the mudflats of Maine, was premiered at Miami ScreenDance Festival 2018. Working in the schools, NWD Projects brings science to life through dance and poetry workshops and artist residencies such as Daniel Dancer’s Art For the Sky.
