A City of the People/La Ciudad de la Gente follows up Living Together, MOAD’s acclaimed year-long 2018 series that dynamically bridged the gap in Museum programming during recent renovations. Living Together brought 17 of today’s most renowned artists, musicians, writers, and thinkers to Miami for 20 separate events at 14 different venues. Among the highlights of the Living Together series, MOAD presented the sold-out performances Past Tense by MacArthur “genius” award winner Carrie Mae Weems and Karen Finley’s political satire Unicorn Gratitude Mystery. The series also included two unprecedented and innovative exhibitions that concluded MOAD’s 2017–2018 season: Venice Biennial Gold Lion Award winner Tino Sehgal’s multidisciplinary exhibition This Situation and renowned South African artist William Kentridge’s More Sweetly Play the Dance. Living Together was realized with highly successful partnerships that greatly expanded the reach, resources, funding, and impact of the programs.
