#FillABag

Founded by Key Biscayne residents Manny Rionda, Nancy Davis and James Duncan, #FillABag will install Fill A Bag Stations designed to empower people to turn daily walks into meaningful beach cleanups. The whitewashed 6’ post has 4 cobalt blue pegs and provides beachgoers with on-demand reusable bags and repurposed buckets to fill with trash during their strolls. Fill A Bag Stations are strategically installed near trash and recycling bins, where collected trash may be responsibly discarded. #FillABag was born and raised in Key Biscayne (#FillABagKB) and will bring the concept to other communities. Besides beaches; parks, neighborhoods, open and public spaces all qualify for activation.

The “FAB Station” is designed to empower people to turn daily walks into meaningful beach cleanups by providing beachgoers with a bag to fill with trash during their strolls. The whitewashed 6’ post has 4 cobalt blue pegs that hold reusable burlap bags. An attached wooden box contains compostable garbage bags, to be filled and then responsibly discarded. We will launch in Key Biscayne (#FillABagKB) and then bring the concept to other communities. Besides beaches; parks, neighborhoods, open and public spaces all qualify for activations. FAB Stations provide an important opportunity to learn the joy of community service and the value of our environment. There’s a movement happening. People are tired of seeing trash on their beaches, and in their communities. Folks are organizing and participating in clean ups on a more consistent basis.
