ICU baby

ICU baby is a Miami based non-profit organization with the mission to support families with a baby in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU). ICU baby was founded in an effort to eliminate financial and emotional barriers that prevent parents from visiting their baby in the NICU. ICU baby currently has programs in the NICUs of Holtz Children's Hospital at UM/Jackson Memorial Medical Center with 126 beds and Baptist Health System's South Miami Hospital with 62 beds. The organization's feature programs include the NICU Pack Project, Transportation Assistance Program, Supper of Support, Parent-to-Parent Support and Bereavement Support. ICU baby's programs target all NICU families regardless of financial well being, except for the Transportation Assistance Program which serves our community's low income level families. ICU baby is the only organization benefitting NICU families in South Florida and it carries out its projects with in-hospital volunteers that visit the NICU every Wednesday. To date, volunteers have logged over 1500 in-hospital volunteer hours and have provided tangible benefits to over 2500 NICU families. ICU baby's five year goal is to increase financial assistance to low income NICU families in its current programs and to support more families with critically ill babies by expanding to other NICU's in South Florida.
