6th Street Dance Studio is a gathering place for artists involved in process oriented new work and holistic principles, with a mission dedicated to deep learning and artistry. 6th Street offers the newest explorations in contemporary classical technique classes, Lightbody movement, the newest and oldest in urban dance and composition classes for the devleopment of new work. The studio is host to residencies, workshops, performances, lectures, ongoing classes and open discussions in the performing and visual arts.
We have developed TruSchool, a Zulu Nation mentored hiphop program and ballet for young people and HomeGrown, a program for young adult professional performers that provides a residency/mentoring program for study and performance. 6th Street is also home to WholeProject, a non-profit affiliated contemporary dance company under Brigid Baker's choreographic direction. 6th Street bases it operation on sacred economics, is debt-free, green and supports direct giving. 6th Street Dance Studio/WholeProject is dedicated to conquering barriers of racism, sexism, classism and all other forms of small mindedness.
