Dade Legal Aid/Put Something Back

Dade Legal Aid is a non-profit law firm dedicated to providing a safety net of free legal services to multi-generational low-income residents in need across Miami with nowhere else to turn for help. Dedicated staff and pro bono attorneys specialize in a wide range of areas of law to serve the growing needs of low income communities. Priority goes to child and teen advocacy, family law, domestic violence, sexual assault, human sex trafficking, name change, guardianship, housing, wills, bankruptcy, foreclosure, collection,self help clinics and startups. Put Something Back Pro Bono Project serves as a clearinghouse of pro bono opportunities, pairing pro bono clients with individual attorney volunteers and law firm participants seeking to fulfill their attorney oath to "never reject, from any consideration personal to myself, the cause of the defenseless or oppressed, or delay anyone's cause for lucre or malice."

Put Something Back Pro Bono Project serves as a pipeline to pro bono opportunities for attorneys in Miami. Those interested in participating are paired with pre-screened, income eligible clients in need of help. To learn a new area of law, volunteers are invited to attend a variety of complimentary recruitment trainings prior to receiving a pro bono case. Pictured here are speakers at one of Put Something Back's Family Law seminars to recruit and train attorneys how to handle family law and guardian ad litem cases for underprivileged and neglected children. Mentoring, materials, supervision and access to free and reduced court reporters, mediators and translators are available to project volunteers.
