BNA's mission is to decrease health disparities through advocacy, education and health promotion. We conduct ongoing community-based programs that include: homeless vaccination project to men, women, and families; anti-gun violence and human trafficking awareness programs annually in partnership with local officials; provide hands-only CPR training to community members to reduce the incidence of preventable deaths from sudden cardiac arrest; education on disease management and screenings to minority populations to decrease morbidity and mortality through community-wide health fairs; monthly lecture series on common diseases to adults in the Miami Garden community; fund raising activities to support student scholarships for persons pursuing a career in nursing; establish partnerships with local community groups, colleges and universities to provide for improved access to healthcare in our community; and participates in international medical missions to Jamaica, Haiti and Ecuador to help reduce global morbidity and mortality among the nations. BNA members also participate in national healthcare initiatives through educating nurses, nursing, students, and community members regarding participation in research through our information sessions on the "All of Us" Research Program and our National BNA Youth Institute that has provided reading materials (books) to school-age children, dental health supplies and many other projects across the nation.
